Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

Victory also means the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, including in Halle in the past months.

His retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on court had led some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an better serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent rescued four early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, he clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
